Battle of Toulouse - Move 2

Table at the start of move 2

Bottom - Hill is approaching Toulouse on centre road

Left - Picton is approach Toulouse and above him Friere has halted

Top – Beresford has arrived above hill (out of photo)


British Left

French artillery open fire on the Portuguese brigade, causing them to rout

Beresford orders his artillery to unlimber and engage the enemy gunners

The rest of the British infantry continue towards the ridge


British Centre

Friere’s Spanish corps halt out of artillery range

They will not advance until either Beresford or Picton has broken the enemy line

British Right

The French have withdrawn their artillery to cover the bridge

Picton moves his artillery into close range of Toulouse

His infantry columns move up in support.


British south of river

Hill’s artillery have unlimbered within close range of Toulouse

They immediately cause casualties in the city

The infantry move up ready to storm across the bridge.

Game Notes

The British are now within close range of Toulouse and the ridge

The French must cause maximum casualties before the British can engage them
