Battle of Toulouse - Move 3

Table at the start of move 3

Bottom – Hills artillery have caused casualties on the right hand section of Toulouse

Left – Picton approaching Toulouse, Freire has halted to await developments

Top – Beresford has arrived above the ridge (out of photo)

British Left

The loss of the Portuguese brigade has left the artillery unsupported

Beresford orders his infantry forward to attack the hill

His cavalry move forward to support the infantry columns

British Centre

Friere’s Spanish corps halt out of artillery range

They will not advance until either Beresford or Picton has broken the enemy line

British Right

Picton moves his infantry forward to attack the town

His hussars move forward to counter the French cavalry

The artillery unlimber and fire on the town, but with no effect

British south of river

French artillery is taking position to the right of the town to fire on Hill

His artillery continue to fire on the town, but with no effect

His infantry advance over the bridge and exchange fire with the garrison


Game Notes

Wellington has ordered Beresford and Hill to attack Toulouse

The British artillery is not proving very effective, so the infantry are sent forward
